All AVex DVD programs support Tivo and Tivo2go, you can easily turn your favorite Tivo video files into iPod MP4 format.

Moreover, with the AVex iPod Video Converter(Batch Mode), video conversion is no longer a tedious task. No longer waiting in front of your computer and select file one by one. All you need to do is select all the Tivo and/or tivo2go files into the conversion queue, configure the audio bitrate, video bitrate, output file format (mp4 or h264), resolution, etc, then press "Convert" button in AVex' main pane, then you can hang out with friends or do something else more important.

Dependent upon the output file format that you choose, mp4 or h264, it may take from 35 minutes to 1 hour to convert a 2-hour movie.

Does AVex support MPEG4?

<img style="float:right; Uncheck any problematic video files in batch converter's conversion queue. Try using single mode the record the problematic video, and recording the rest in batch mode, see if it works for you.

2. Gather information of the problematic video files, you can get this info by clicking the little green round button in the bottom right corner of the program's main pane. If it doesn't tell you anything, try the following steps:
(1) Download the K-Lite Codec Pack, if the link doesn't work for you, download it at: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm, and install it on your system

(2) Click windows "Start" menu -> "All Programs" -> "K-Lite Codec Pack" -> "Tools" -> "GSpot Codec Information"

(3) Click the pink button " ... ", select the original video file(s) to be checked

(4) At the bottom of GSpot program, click the pink button "1" under "MS A/V", the GSpot program should display the audio filter and video filter used by the original video file, e.g.:
Render OK; the following combination of filters was used:
(Src)-->[CoreAVC Video Decoder ]>--(A)-->[Video Renderer ]
(Src)-->[ffdshow Audio Decoder ]>--(A)-->[AC3Filter ]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

3. However, if you still can't hear audio of the output file, there's something wrong with your audio codec, or some incompatible problem between your video and audio codecs. Don't panic when you have this problem, it can be resolved as described below:

1. Upgrade to DirectX 9.0c. Download and install MpegDecoder-1/2, AC3Filter, and choose "Microsoft DVD Navigator" as DVD navigator, MpegDecoder012 as DVD Video Decoder, AC3Filter as DVD Audio Decoder in the "DVD Settings" dialog.

2. If you're using the AVex Video-Only Converter(inlcuding AVex iPod Video Converter, AVex iPhone Video Converter, AVex Apple TV Video Converter, AVex Zune Video Converter, AVex PSP Video Converter, AVex 3GP Mobile Video Converter, AVex Video Converter Platinum), there won't be any "DVD Settings" in "Options" menu. You need to:

(Src)-->[CoreAVC Video Decoder ]>--(A)-->[Video Renderer ]
(Src)-->[ffdshow Audio Decoder ]>--(A)-->[AC3Filter ]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

It's possible that the original video file can't be rendered by the GSpot program, it will probably prompt the error message as shown below:
Warning: DirectShow Crashed while attempting to render this file
This is usually due to damaged, misconfigured, conflicting, or poorly written codec drivers. It is possible, perhaps even likely, that other media players will crash when they attemp to play this file as well, as most of them will also use DirectShow. Although GSpot was able to intercept the crash, attempts to identify the codec which caused it have failed. Unfortunately, no additional information is available at this time.

Please don't panic when you see this warning. You can uninstall your Xvid codec, restart, reinstall Xvid Codec; or uninstall and reinstall your ffdshow codec. Meanwhile, apply this uninstall and reinstall process on your Graphics Card Driver and DirectX 9.0c.

(5) In Step (4), if you're able to read the audio and video filter:
(Src)-->[CoreAVC Video Decoder ]>--(A)-->[Video Renderer ]
(Src)-->[ffdshow Audio Decoder ]>--(A)-->[AC3Filter ]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

uninstall the ffdshow and AC3Filter, or whatever the audio decoder and video decoder shown on your GSpot program, restart your system when possible. Then you should be able to no audio problem.

3. If you have installed PowerDVD 5 or above, WinDVD 5 or above, you should uninstall these DVD players, which will uninstall the video decoder and audio decoder coming with the DVD player. Then reinstall PowerDVD or WinDVD. Then open AVex program, go to menu "Options", click "DVD Settings", modify the DVD Setting as any ONE of the following Combination, but don't mix them up, e.g., don't mix Cyberlink Audio Decoder with Nero Video Decoder:

* DVD Navigator: Microsoft DVD Navigator
Audio Decoder: AC3Filter
Video Decoder: MpegDecoder012
* DVD Navigator: Microsoft DVD Navigator
Audio Decoder: Cyberlink Audio
Video Decoder: Cyberlink Video Decoder
* DVD Navigator: Microsoft DVD Navigator
Audio Decoder: Intervideo Audio Decoder
Video Decoder: Intervideo Video Decoder

99% of the users will have this no-audio problem solved by now, for the rest of the customers, please contact support@avex-dvd.com, for further assistance, if none of the above solutions work for you. Please don't forget to add the "C:\temp\avex.elog" as an attachment when you write to the AVex support.

<category scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='ICSeqCompressframeStart failed. Follow the instructions below, if you're using the AVex DVD program:

Make sure you have installed DirectX 9.0c, MpegDecoder012 and AC3Filter, and choose the "DVD Settings" as of following:
DVD Navigator: Microsoft DVD Navigator
Audio Decoder: AC3Filter
Video Decoder: MpegDecoder012

You can download DirectX 9.0c, MpegDecoder-1/2, AC3Filter, at United Digitals.

If you don't know how to go to "DVD Settings", here's how:
Open AVex program -> click menu "Options" -> select "DVD Settings".

For the AVex Video-only program (inlcuding AVex iPod Video Converter, AVex iPhone Video Converter, AVex Apple TV Video Converter, AVex Zune Video Converter, AVex PSP Video Converter, AVex 3GP Mobile Video Converter, AVex Video Converter Platinum), there won't be any "DVD Settings" in "Options" menu. You should:

(Src)-->[CoreAVC Video Decoder ]>--(A)-->[Video Renderer ]
(Src)-->[ffdshow Audio Decoder ]>--(A)-->[AC3Filter ]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

(Src)-->[CoreAVC Video Decoder ]>--(A)-->[Video Renderer ]
(Src)-->[ffdshow Audio Decoder ]>--(A)-->[AC3Filter ]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

uninstall the ffdshow and AC3Filter, or whatever the audio decoder and video decoder shown on your GSpot program, restart your system when possible. Then you should be able to start the problematic video files.

Please contact support@avex-dvd.com, for further assistance, if none of the above solutions work for you. Please don't forget to add the "C:\temp\avex.elog" as an attachment when you write to the AVex support.

AVex convert problem - Error: cannot create output file. Output folder does not exist or you have no permission to create files

AVex users usually will encounter this problem: "Error: cannot create output file. Output folder does not exist or you have no permission to create files in the output folder. Try to set another output folder under File Menu."; or "Unable to set recorded file name"; or "Cannot create recorded file"; or "Cannot open output file"; or "Cannot create recorded file", after I click the "Convert" button. This is quite common when user doesn't have the write permission to the output folder. Simple solution is to set up a folder with write privilege and problem should most likely be solved.

However, problem is not that simple, some people will still have this problem. So, to get the ultimate solution to this problem, you need to follow the steps as of following:
First, please click here to download and install Xvid 1.0 final.

Make sure the output folder exists, and is not protected from write and you have the privilege to write. Please check whether the output path is still valid, you may set the output path in the "File" menu.

How to set output filename & location?
Then, launch AVex program -> click "Browse" button in the bottom of the program's main pane -> select a folder where you have the administrator's privilege or write privilege in the "Browse for Folder" window, for instance, if you can create a folder named "for instance" in drive C:\, then select "C:\for instance" as your output folder -> click "OK" in the "Browse for Folder" window.

After these steps, 99% of the users should no longer have this error.
